I agree that my list is ambitious, and I certainly won't be disappointed if it doesn't happen this year. I think kids have a capacity to memorize quite a bit more than we give them credit for, and I look forward to seeing what Lydia can do.Meaganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14738107155360861659noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1067904733139318831.post-14624867936131997642012-07-10T07:51:25.764-07:002012-07-10T07:51:25.764-07:00This is an ambitious memorization plan. But I too...This is an ambitious memorization plan. But I too agree that memorization is very important and useful. In our family we've memorized over 30 different scriptures. Now that the kids are older they have often commented on how helpful that has been.

I also had a struggle one year with one teacher. She had the kids memorizing poems every month, but the poems were really stupid, badly written kids rhymes. I challenged the teacher to find quality poetry that would be more beneficial. It went back and forth and in the end she basically said that anything else was too hard (this was 4th grade). That was frustrating! That was a couple years ago. This year my third grader brought home "Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening" to memorize - so I was glad about that.

I think your selections are quite good. And I wish you success.Becky B.https://www.blogger.com/profile/17323518137235559735noreply@blogger.com
